The WD1 coating on these drill bits is harder than a TiAlN coating, has excellent heat resistance, and protects the tool from wear when drilling into steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, and cast iron. These bits have spiral flutes that evacuate chips as the bits drill into a workpiece, and they have a straight shank that installs into a drill chuck or similar toolholder.
