Straight-flute hand reamers push chips forward into a hole as they enlarge or finish it to a desired size. They are recommended for reaming through holes and are the most commonly used style of reamer. Each reamer is designed for use with a specific size of hole. The reamer is held with a tap wrench, adjustable wrench, or vise and slowly rotated to feed it into the hole.
