Left-hand spiral-flute hand reamers thrust material chips into and through a hole as they ream a workpiece. They provide a more finished cut than straight-flute hand reamers. Reamers are held by tools such as a tap wrench to slowly rotate and feed it into the hole. The reamer is designed for use with a specific size of hole, and the spiral flutes reduce the amount of effort required to turn the reamer.
