Wire and cable installer drill bits make holes for running wire and cable through walls and other surfaces where the bits may encounter nails, steel plate, sheet metal, and similar obstructions. Wire-fishing holes on the drill bits' body and shank allow wire and cable to be pulled through the holes that were created during drilling. The bits have a self-starting split point that prevents them from moving, or walking, when starting to drill, which eliminates the need for using a center drill to create a starter hole before drilling.
