The bright finish on these taps provides a smooth, polished surface. High-speed steel taps provide good wear resistance in general purpose tapping applications in a range of materials. Spiral-flute taps pull chips out and away from the hole as the tap moves into the hole to create threads, which helps prevent chips from packing in the hole. They are used for threading blind holes.
