The bright finish on these taps provides a smooth, polished surface. Carbide taps are harder than high-speed steel and high-performance taps. They resist high temperatures and are suitable for high-speed tapping. Carbide taps are more brittle than high-speed steel and high-performance taps and require a rigid setup. Thread-forming taps press against the sides of a hole to form threads as they are rotated into the hole. They don't produce chips, which eliminates the need to clear chips from the hole and prevents threads from being deformed during tapping.
