The THL coating on these taps protects them from wear and provides better chip formation than TiN and TiCN coatings. THL-coated taps are suitable for threading high-speed steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys, and they can be used with or without coolant. Coolant-through taps have holes that allow coolant to flow to their tip to reduce heat and friction during threading tasks.
