The TiAlN/AlCrN multilayer coating on these drill bits protects the bits from wear and extends their life when drilling steel and cast iron. As one layer of the coating wears down, a new layer is exposed. These drill bits have holes that allow coolant to flow to their tip to reduce heat and help clear chips during drilling. Spiral-flute drill bits evacuate chips as the bits drill into a workpiece.
