These carbide chucking reamers have an AlCrN finish that provides good wear protection and heat resistance during dry, high-speed machining applications. The AlCrN finish is harder and more difficult to crack than a TiAlN finish. It also provides more resistance to oxidation than a TiAlN finish and performs better in applications with high feeds. Straight-flute chucking reamers push chips forward into a hole as they enlarge it to an exact size for a precise fit when installing fasteners or other parts. They are the most commonly used style of reamer. These carbide reamers have a straight shank that mounts to the chuck of a drill press or similar machining tool.
