These high-speed steel chucking reamers come in standard sizes expressed in fractional inches. Fractional inch is the most common trade size used for chucking reamers. Right-hand spiral-flute reamers draw chips up out of the hole and are used for reaming blind holes that do not continue all the way through the workpiece. Spiral-flute reamers leave a smoother finish on the hole than straight-flute reamers. These chucking reamers are made from high-speed steel and have a bright finish that is unaffected when their cutting edges are resharpened. The reamers' straight shank mounts to the chuck of a drill press or similar machining tool.
