The CrC/C coating on these taps is a multilayer coating with a base layer of titanium nitride (TiN) and an outer layer of chromium carbide carbon (CrC/C). It protects the taps from wear when tapping aluminum and other ferrous and nonferrous materials. These taps meet DIN length standards and have a longer overall length than taps that meet ISO, ANSI, and JIS length standards. They also meet ANSI shank standards, which means they measure their shank diameter in inches and fit in standard tools used in the U.S.
