The TiCN coating on these taps protects them from wear and is harder and more wear-resistant than a TiN coating. High-performance taps are harder and more wear-resistant than high-speed steel taps. They provide good precision and accuracy in threading tasks. Spiral-flute taps pull chips out and away from the hole as the tap moves into the hole to create threads, which helps prevent chips from packing in the hole. They are used for threading blind holes.
