Solid carbide countersinks provide excellent wear resistance when machining the toughest materials, such as cast iron and stainless steel. General purpose 4-flute countersinks expand the top of an existing hole in a workpiece to ensure screws install flush with the surface of the workpiece. Four-flute countersinks typically provide more wear resistance than countersinks with fewer flutes.
