The EgiAs coating on these drill bits has a high oxidation temperature and provides excellent hardness and heat resistance. The coating protects the bits from wear in high-speed drilling applications on steel, cast iron, and hardened steel with a Rockwell Hardness of 35 to 50 HRC. Carbide drill bits provide excellent hardness, wear resistance, and heat resistance, but they require a rigid setup such as a drill press. Screw-machine length drill bits are shorter than jobber length and maintenance length drill bits and can access tight spaces where longer drill bits cannot fit. They provide more strength and rigidity and can drill straighter holes than longer drill bits.
